Bike rider killed, pillion injured in school bus collision in Karnataka

UDUPI: A bike rider died, and a pillion rider sustained injuries in an accident reported on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Ganesh. According to the police, the deceased was riding his friend Krishna’s motorbike with his friend Sudarshan as the pillion rider.

He reportedly left home for work and was on his way from Perdoor to Dondarangi.

When they reached Kolambe Cross in Perdoor village, a school bus coming from the Dondarangi side towards Perdoor, driven by Manjunath Nayak allegedly in a rash and negligent manner and at high speed, moved to the extreme right and collided head-on with the motorbike ridden by Ganesh. As a result of the collision, rider Ganesh and pillion rider Sudarshan fell onto the road. Ganesh sustained severe head injuries, and both lost consciousness. Onlookers immediately shifted the two injured persons in a vehicle to a hospital in Manipal for treatment. At the hospital, doctors examined Ganesh and declared that he already succumbed to his injuries. Sudarshan was admitted for treatment. Based on the complaint lodged by Shekar, Hiriyadka Police registered a case under Sections 281, 125(A), and 106 of the BNS.
