Investigators are also focusing on deleted conversations from Samarth’s mobile phone. Chat logs involving Twisha and her family members were deleted from the device.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which formally took over the former model-actor Twisha Sharma death case, has now started examining the claims made by Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh during police questioning, while also verifying them against WhatsApp chats, medical records, digital evidence and statements collected so far.
On Monday, the CBI re-registered the FIR earlier filed by Bhopal Police and booked Samarth Singh along with his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh. A team from the CBI’s Special Crime Unit arrived in Bhopal and collected police records, statements, medical documents and other evidence gathered during the earlier investigation.
Dowry death charges
The case has been registered under sections linked to dowry death after investigators reportedly found material pointing towards dowry-related allegations.
Special Investigation Team chief Rajneesh Kashyap Kaul has been named as the complainant in the CBI FIR.
Before the CBI took charge, Samarth Singh was questioned by police for nearly 10 hours over three days.
During questioning, he reportedly admitted that his marriage with Twisha had become troubled but denied ever physically assaulting her.
According to him, the relationship remained largely stable until March, after which tensions increased following the wedding of Twisha’s brother.
Investigators questioned him about how the couple met, the duration of their relationship before marriage and the reasons behind the alleged breakdown within months of their wedding. Police also asked whether Twisha visited her parental home willingly or after domestic disputes.
Pregnancy and abortion claims
One of the most sensitive aspects of the investigation relates to Twisha’s pregnancy and abortion.
Samarth reportedly told police that he wanted to become a father but claimed Twisha did not want the child.
According to his statement, the abortion took place on Twisha’s insistence and after medical advice. He said both of them had visited the doctor together and obtained medication before the procedure.
Investigators are now collecting hospital records and medical papers to verify the claim. However, WhatsApp messages reportedly recovered during the investigation have added another dimension to the case.
According to sources, some chats suggest Samarth had raised doubts over the pregnancy and questioned the paternity of the unborn child.
The messages reportedly contradict his claim that both he and his mother wanted the baby while Twisha remained emotionally distressed.
Twisha’s family has alleged that psychiatric treatment and medication began only after issues surrounding the pregnancy surfaced.
They also claimed that Twisha lost nearly 15 kilograms during that period.
Mental health questions
Another major focus of the probe is Twisha’s mental health treatment.
Samarth reportedly claimed before police that Twisha suffered from Bipolar Disorder and experienced sudden behavioural changes. He later stated that doctors diagnosed her with adjustment disorder after she experienced emotional distress.
Police questioned whether Twisha’s family had been informed about the alleged psychiatric treatment and why a newly married woman required psychiatric consultation within months of marriage.
Samarth also denied allegations that sleeping pills were administered without reason. According to him, the medication was prescribed by doctors to help reduce stress.
The CBI is expected to examine whether the treatment was medically justified, whether Twisha’s consent was properly recorded and whether her family knew about the medication.
Deleted chats and digital evidence
Investigators are also focusing on deleted conversations from Samarth’s mobile phone. Police sources said chat logs involving Twisha and her family members were deleted from the device.
A technical team is currently attempting to recover the messages. These chats may become important because Twisha had allegedly told family members she was forced to quit her job and was not allowed to continue working online.
Samarth denied those allegations and claimed Twisha resigned voluntarily after marriage because the couple wanted to spend more time together. He also told investigators that the day of the incident appeared completely normal.
According to his version, the couple went to the gym together, ate together and later went for a walk.
Investigators are now comparing this account with CCTV footage, phone records, witness statements, medical documents and digital evidence.
The role of Giribala Singh also remains central to the investigation. Samarth reportedly told police that his mother often tried to mediate disputes between him and Twisha.
However, Twisha allegedly believed that her mother-in-law always supported Samarth during disagreements inside the marriage.
