The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State vice-president S. Vishnuvardhan Reddy has conveyed his gratitude to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her efforts in the establishment and expansion of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) centre at Palasamudram in Sri Sathya Sai district.

The BJP leader met the Union Finance Minister at New Delhi on Friday.

Mr. Vishnuvardhan Reddy stated that setting up one of India’s prestigious training institutions — the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) — in a backward region like Palasamudram is a matter of great pride. The establishment of such renowned training institutions in backward areas will provide training, employment opportunities and economic development for the local youth, he said.

The Central Government has allocated approximately ₹729 crore for the development of this centre. He added that this has become the largest training centre in the country among all such institutions. For the first time, the centre has been recognised by the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) as a globally standardised institution, which is a matter of national pride, he said.

Approval of a Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) for students in the region, along with substantial funding for various other projects, clearly reflects the genuine commitment of the Finance Minister and the Union government toward the development of Rayalaseema, he added.
