The BJP questioned the ‘seriousness’ of the Congress Government in investigating the phone tapping case and claimed that its own office staff as well as social media team were under the illegal mobile surveillance.

Telangana BJP president and Union Minister for Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy told partymen at a workshop of top leadership, held in the city on Friday to plan for the local body polls, that both the Congress and BRS were “enacting a drama” on the phone tapping issue.

Stating the phone tapping is a dangerous crime, the BJP leader alleged that the phones of judges, film stars, Opposition leaders, and business persons, were under surveillance by the KCR regime.

But, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy after demanding a CBI probe when in Opposition had changed tack after coming to power, he claimed and accused the ruling party of bringing ‘unrelated’ issues to the fore to divert people from questioning about the implementation of guarantees.

Mr. Kishan Reddy said the party should enlighten the people about the “corruption and illegal activities” under the BRS regime and also the failures of the Congress Government. The emerging leaders from the newly-formed mandal and district committees should be encouraged to expose the ‘government lapses’, he said.

The mal-administration of BRS and present Congress Government has pushed the State into a debt trap with the poor, being the sufferers because the social schemes have been affected, he said.

Whatever progress or development seen in Telangana is because of the Centre’s funds for new highways, railways and others, he claimed.

General secretary G. Premender Reddy, at another press conference on Friday, accused the Congress Government of putting off the local body polls as it was apprehensive of facing the people’s wrath on promised guarantees implementation. There is a bid to pin the blame on the Centre for the delayed polls since the government is unable to ensure 42% quota for Backward Classes (BCs). The party is ready for polls with an aim to capture majority of seats.
