DMK leader and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) said the Assembly election next year would determine the future of Tamil Nadu, and it would witness a “fight between the DMK, which stands tall with its unique rule,” and the “slaves bending before Delhi.”
“The election will protect Tamil Nadu’s self-respect and individuality,” he said while addressing a programme, My Polling Booth – Victory Booth, aimed at providing training to party members to manage polling booths during elections, at Mamallapuram.
Mr. Stalin said the enemies and betrayers of the Tamil race were directly and indirectly making efforts to cause trouble, and the DMK alliance should defeat them and protect the Tamil land, language, and pride.
“The State is facing an invasion of its sociocultural system and economy. Injustice is being caused to it on all fronts. They trouble Tamil Nadu in the name of Hindi, Sanskrit, GST, and the Governor. Only we have the strength to defeat them. The daydream of the BJP will not become a reality so long as the DMK is active,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the BJP was also aware of the DMK’s strength and was trying to find new ways to cause trouble. “The Election Commission has announced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) [of electoral rolls], and they are threatening us with it. We will not bow down to them. The designs of the RSS will not work in Tamil Nadu,” he said.
Mr. Stalin charged that the Election Commission had deprived over 65 lakh people of their voting rights in the name of SIR, and the DMK condemned it. “I warned that the BJP is using the EC as its puppet to follow the same method in Tamil Nadu. Its calculation is to remove the voting rights of the working class, Scheduled Castes, minorities, and women to win the election. As the party lacks the courage to face the people, it has made the wrong calculation of denying people their right to vote,” he alleged.
According to Mr. Stalin, the election in 2021 saved Tamil Nadu from the AIADMK, “which had become a slave to the BJP,” and the election in 2026 would save the State from the BJP-AIADMK combine. “We have to uproot the gang that seeks to destroy a well-developed Tamil Nadu,” he said.
Mr. Stalin said that party members should not think he was allowing them to sit idle. “We will stagnate if we remain idle. We must function constantly to prove that we are a movement,” he said.
