TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud questioned the sincerity of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), particularly Union Minister Bandi Sanjay’s silence in securing clearance from the Centre on the Bills pertaining to 42% reservations for Backward Classes.

Mr. Goud accused BJP leaders of ‘begging for votes in the name of God’ but lacking the courage to question the BJP leadership on not clearing the BC bills. The BJP was playing a ‘deceitful game’ over BC reservations, he said. He also accused BJP MP Eatala Rajender of disappearing from the political scene.

At a preparatory meeting in Nizamabad for the proposed BC Declaration Success Rally in Kamareddy on September 15, Mr. Goud said the rally and the meeting at Kamareddy would ‘force the Centre to respond’ and act as ‘an eye-opener for Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’.

Reiterating the Congress’s commitment to social justice, he said, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy gave life to Rahul Gandhi’s vision that everyone should get their fair share in power. He pointed out that the caste census revealed BCs constitute 56.33% of Telangana’s population and the Congress is determined to provide 42% reservations to them.

The TPCC chief alleged that K. Kavitha had brought disrepute to Nizamabad with her involvement in the Delhi Liquor Policy case and described Mr. K Chandrasekhar Rao’s family as ‘a gang of looters’. He said that their internal disputes were nothing more than fights over the share of looted wealth.

“It is ironic that Ms. Kavitha herself admitted they looted the State. Had she spoken these words five years ago, we would have felicitated her,” Mr. Goud said, predicting that the BRS would vanish in the next elections.

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka, Konda Surekha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Vakati Srihari, along with Government Advisor Mohd. Shabbir Ali, MP Suresh Shetkar, MLAs, DCC presidents, and other senior leaders attended. Ministers said the Congress has made a historic move and this was bound to be followed across the country.
