The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday demanded that the Congress government hand over all evidence related to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) and fully cooperate with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure that those responsible for looting Telangana’s wealth are brought to justice.

Rajya Sabha MP and national OBC Morcha president K. Laxman said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, now in a “helpless” position, has finally acknowledged that the CBI is the only agency capable of uncovering the truth, as he has failed to recover even a single rupee from the alleged scam. He alleged that the formation of the P.C. Ghosh Commission is merely a delaying tactic aimed at diluting evidence of corruption in the project, whose original cost of ₹38,000 crore was escalated to ₹1 lakh crore under the guise of redesigning.

Mr. Laxman suggested that the delay in handing over the case to the CBI may be due to a “secret deal” between the Congress and BRS parties. He noted that Mr. Revanth Reddy himself had called for a CBI probe before coming to power, and it took him 22 months to act on it.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Laxman and BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao welcomed former State BC Commission chairman Vakulabharanam Krishnamohan into the party at the State office. Mr. Rao said Krishnamohan’s entry signals growing support for the BJP among OBC and MBC communities, who believe the party is committed to protecting their rights.

Mr. Laxman further accused the Congress of having a history of deceiving BCs and questioned the delay in amending the Panchayat Raj Act to provide 42% reservations for BCs. He criticised the government for lacking clarity on how to overcome legal hurdles and warned that failure to implement the reservation would provoke strong backlash from BC communities.
