Describing the BRS and the Congress parties as ‘twins in corruption’, BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao said the people of Telangana are looking at the BJP with immense hope to bring double-engine sarkar, corruption-free and good governance in the State.
Starting with the coming elections to Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), the BJP is bound to win all the elections, including the 2028 Assembly polls, he said while addressing the key party functionaries of the Karimnagar Parliamentary Constituency in Karimnagar on Wednesday.
Earlier, he was accorded a rousing welcome by the party cadre on his arrival in Karimnagar on his maiden visit to the district after taking over charge as the BJP State president.
Mr. Rao said, “The family feud is out in the open in the BRS with the party leaders themselves revealing the corruption in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) during the BRS government. Only one family benefited after the formation of Telangana and many land oustees of the KLIP and various other irrigation projects were left in the lurch, without being paid due compensation.”
Mr. Rao alleged that the Congress dispensation in the State miserably failed to implement the promises made under the Rythu, Youth, BC, SC and ST Declarations.
The ruling Congress is afraid of facing local body elections fearing its defeat due to unkept promises, he said.
He added that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre has allocated ₹12 lakh crore to the State under various schemes with a major thrust on development of rail and road networks in the last 11 years. But the Congress and the BRS are spearheading false propaganda against the Central government with selfish political motives, he alleged.
Addressing the party functionaries, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay alleged that the Congress and the BRS are enacting dramas in the name of Kaleshwaram to divert people’s attention.
Terming the alleged irregularities in the construction of the KLIP as the biggest scam in the world, Mr. Sanjay said, “Even BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kavitha admitted that corruption took place in KLIP.”
He said, “The Congress government has diluted the case for 20 months. What action has been taken on the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission report? Where is the Action Taken Report? he asked.
Instead of presenting strong evidence in courts and arguing firmly, they are weakening the corruption cases to protect the guilty, Mr. Sanjay further charged, taking a dig at the Congress dispensation for its alleged failure to ensure stringent action against the masterminds behind the phone-tapping, Formula-E Race and Sheep scams.
