The BJP has decided to intensify its household campaign for hoisting the national flag by ensuring the tricolour is atop an estimated 14 lakh homes across Telangana on August 14 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
Party president and former MLC N. Ramchander Rao informed the media here on Monday at the State office that in the sixth year of the programme, it was decided to organise it grandly in all the districts and mandals in association with voluntary bodies and educational institutions.
On the eve of Independence Day, a huge rally of about 15,000 college students is being planned on the Necklace Road here in the twin cities. Similar rallies will be held across the State, recalling the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to gain independence for the country from the British, he said.
A committee led by senior leader and party vice president G. Manohar Reddy with other members like P. Harish (MLA), Rani Rudrama Devi (spokesperson), Ch. Mahender (BJYM) and M. Komariaah (MLC) has chalked out the programme.
