Vijayapura based BLDE Society will diversify its activities and expand to other regions. It will setup a centre of the BLDE (deemed university) in Bengaluru and establish five new colleges.
Among the new initiatives is establishment of a farm sciences college, a centre of excellence in dairy sciences and an engineering college in Vijayapura, and technical and health science colleges in Kalyan Karnataka and Kittur Karnataka regions.
“When this happens, it will be the first private engineering college in Karnataka to offer these courses. The State government has begun the process of permitting private agricultural colleges. The necessary infrastructure and land are being developed as per the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in Vijayapura,” Chancellor Basanagouda Mallanagouda Patil told reporters in Vijayapura on Thursday.
“A ‘Centre of Excellence in Dairy Farming’ with the help of a private company for overall rural development and nutrition. It will help farmers in terms of regular income and employment to the rural people, supply nutritious milk and milk products and support the rural economy,” he said.
He said that the eight colleges currently run by the society will be affiliated to the BLDE (deemed university) by next year. They are currently affiliated to the RGUHS. The approval of the University Grants Commission (UGC) is in the process.
The society will set up a new Engineering College in Vijayapura in the new BLDE campus. It will have computer science, Data Science, Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AIML), Information science and Electronics and Communication and other departments.
An international school will be started in Vijayapura. The university will start new health sciences and technical colleges in other districts of North Karnataka like Yadgiri, Raichur, Koppal and Vijayanagar in the coming years, Mr. Patil said, according to a release.
