Officials of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), who analysed the fatal accident where a 11-year-old boy was crushed to death under a BMTC bus near Jamia Mosque near K.R. Market, have concluded that the driver was not at fault and blamed the scooter rider for the death of the boy.
In an official press release issued on Monday, the officials said that they have verified the CCTV footage and found that the couple along with 11-year-old boy were riding the scooter and tried to overtake the bus from the lift side. In the melee, the rider noticed another two wheeler ahead and applied brakes. The scooter rider lost control and all three fell on the road. The boy sitting in the middle rolled under the rear wheels of the moving BMTC and was crushed.
The boy was rushed to Victoria Hospital where he succumbed. The Halasuru Gate Traffic Police had arrested the bus driver Santosh and conductor Bhaskar for further investigations.
Senior officials of the BMTC visited the accident spot and conducted a probe, and have claimed that their driver was not at fault.
Meanwhile, the corporation has said that they are also conducting training sessions for the staff to prevent accidents and improve road discipline among the staff. The sessions also include counselling to provide necessary assistance to the staff. The BMTC warned of strict action against the staff involved in violations of traffic rules and road accidents.
