Tension gripped the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early on Monday after GMR officials received a bomb threat email for a British Airways flight (BA 277) arriving from London.
According to S. Kanakaiah, Inspector of RGIA Outpost Police, the mail was received around 2.50 a.m. The flight, carrying about 200 passengers, landed safely at 5.20 a.m. and was immediately cordoned off by airport authorities.
The CISF bomb disposal squad, along with local police and airport security, conducted thorough inspections of the aircraft and luggage but found no explosives. Officials later confirmed the threat was a hoax.
All passengers were safely evacuated, and normal operations resumed after the checks were completed. The RGIA police have registered a case and begun an investigation to identify the sender of the threatening email.
