A tense situation prevailed for some time on the District Court premises in Kalaburagi soon after court proceedings began on Tuesday, following a bomb threat received via email from an anonymous sender.
According to officials, the threat email claimed that a bomb was planted inside the District Court.
Following an alert, the Bomb Disposal Squad, a dog squad and fingerprint experts rushed to the spot and conducted a thorough inspection of the court premises.
As a precautionary measure, judges, lawyers, court staff and litigant public were asked to vacate the premises, while security personnel carried out intensive checks.
The police personnel immediately launched a comprehensive search operation to ensure the safety of everyone in and around the court complex.
After a detailed inspection, the authorities confirmed that the threat was a hoax and that there were no explosive material found.
Police Commissioner S.D. Sharanappa stated that there is no need for the public to panic, as the situation is fully under control.
