The cooler sensation is the result of a cooler air mass from the north meeting a warmer, more humid air mass from the south and east.

The northwesterly winds behind this cool spell are also expected to kick up dust in internal areas, reducing visibility at times.
The UAE’s weather has been unusually cool for mid-April over the past week, with shifting winds, clashing air masses and persistent cloud cover keeping temperatures lower than usual for this time of year.
What Is Causing UAE’s Unusual April Weather?
Clouds have been arriving from two directions- primarily from the east, driven by an upper-level low-pressure system and separately from the west. The combined effect is an overcast, unsettled sky that has been limiting sunshine and holding temperatures down.

Dr Ahmed Habib, a meteorologist at the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), said the clouds are mostly medium- and high-level formations, meaning heavy rainfall is unlikely. Residents can expect intermittent light rain, particularly in western and inland areas, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Why Does UAE Feel Cooler Even Though Temperatures Are Normal?
Current temperatures are within the seasonal range- 31 to 34°C inland and 28 to 31°C along the coast. The cooler sensation, Dr Habib explained to Khaleej Times, is the result of a cooler air mass from the north meeting a warmer, more humid air mass from the south and east. The collision of these two systems is creating atmospheric instability, which is producing the breezy mornings and mild afternoons residents have been experiencing.

Will There Be Dust And Strong Winds In UAE This Week?
Yes. The northwesterly winds behind this cool spell are also expected to kick up dust in internal areas, reducing visibility at times. Sea conditions will turn rough to very rough midweek, easing by Saturday. Residents travelling through desert roads and those planning to be out at sea should take precautions.
When Will UAE Temperatures Rise Again?
The mild weather is expected to ease from Friday, with temperatures rising more noticeably into Saturday. Dr Habib forecast an increase of around 2 to 3°C, with inland areas reaching approximately 38°C. The weekend should also bring calmer wind and sea conditions.
