HYDERABAD: The Forum for Good Governance (FGG) has written to the chief minister, raising serious concerns over the failure to effectively prosecute corruption cases booked by the Anti Corruption Bureau.
In a letter, FGG president M Padmanabha Reddy blamed the collapse of anti-corruption efforts on delays in granting prosecution permission and administrative apathy at the secretariat level. Citing specific examples, the Forum highlighted the case of Jagadeesh Babu, an assistant engineer in Peddapalli, caught by the ACB on July 12, while allegedly accepting a Rs 90,000 bribe. He had previously been caught in a 2017 trap, yet was given a favourable posting and later arrested again.
Another case involved D Srinivas Reddy, deputy commercial tax officer, booked by the ACB in 2018. Seven years later, no chargesheet has been filed.
