The WWE Universe was left stunned last month at SummerSlam when Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE after two years. Since that night, Lesnar had not been seen until the September 5 edition of SmackDown.
The Beast Incarnate once again resurfaced on WWE television to target the same man he attacked in his last appearance, John Cena, with their final encounter now set in stone for the upcoming Wrestlepalooza event.
John Cena attacked by Brock Lesnar after a huge match on WWE SmackDown
John Cena opened the September 5 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. This was his last time as an in-ring competitor at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. As Cena was reflecting on his final appearance in the Second City, the new WWE United States Champion, Sami Zayn, came out to the ring. The Underdog from the Underground applauded Cena and offered to put his newly won title against him in a one-on-one showdown, in front of the passionate crowd of Chicago in attendence for SmackDown. The Never Seen 17, knowing it was possibly his last shot at winning another championship accepted the challenge, in a scene similar to a decade ago, when Zayn answered the John Cena US Open Challenge. It was a spectacular sight to witness Cena and Zayn go up against each other in an evenly matched contest.
Moreover, the final moments of the match saw Cena deliver an AA from the top rope and come close to winning the match. However, Brock Lesnar made his return at that very moment. He marched down to the ring and delivered not one but two F-5s to The Face that Runs the Place, leaving him lifeless in the middle of the ring, a scene similar to SummerSlam.
Following that, Lesnar was seen backstage, and he said, "Hey John, I'll see you at Wrestlepalooza b*tch." Right after, it was made official that John Cena will compete against Brock Lesnar at WWE's newest Premium Live Event, Wrestlepalooza. This will be the final time the two WWE rivals will compete against each other. With the blockbuster match set in stone, it will be a must-see clash between two of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. Also read: WWE Clash in Paris 2025 sets new attendance record, surpassing Taylor Swift’s concert mark
