Brothers' Dispute Over Paddy Ends in Tragic Death in Chatra District

Chatra: A dispute over the division of paddy between two brothers resulted in the death of the younger sibling in Chatra district. The incident occurred in Chani village under the jurisdiction of the Lawalong police station of the district.According to villagers, Jagdish Bhuiyan, the elder son of Suraj Bhuiyan, brutally beat his younger brother, Santosh Bhuiyan (36) to death following an argument over the share of harvested paddy.Hearing Santosh’s cries, his wife rushed to the spot, but by the time she reached, Jagdish had already fatally assaulted him. Santosh’s wife immediately informed Lawalong police. Upon receiving information, the officer-in-charge Prashant Mishra reached the spot along with his team and took possession of the body.Accused Jagdish fled the scene. Mishra said the brothers engaged in a heated dispute that escalated, leading to Santosh’s death due to severe beating. Santosh was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Mishra said efforts are underway to arrest Jagdish, the OC added.
