The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered over 5.3 kilograms of suspected heroin from the depth area of R S Pura, Jammu, during the early hours of Monday.

According to BSF officials, the operation was carried out following precise intelligence inputs indicating an attempt by Pakistan-based smugglers to push narcotics into Indian territory. Acting swiftly on the information received on Sunday, BSF personnel planned a special operation and laid a depth Naka/special ambush in the R S Pura area of Jammu district.

During a search operation near Village Bidipur, alert BSF troops recovered two yellow-coloured packets from farmland. The packets contained ten smaller packets within, collectively weighing approximately 5.300 kilograms. The substance is suspected to be heroin and is believed to have been drone-dropped from across the border.

A thorough search of the surrounding area is still in progress. The local police have been informed and called to the site to take further necessary legal action.

The BSF reiterated its commitment to maintaining a vigilant presence along the International Border and ensuring that all attempts to smuggle narcotics, arms, or contraband into the country are effectively foiled.
