The Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) has developed a new digital platform called “Track Duty” to monitor officials visiting the field daily and to ensure timely mustering.

The initiative follows efforts to improve the attendance of waste collection auto tippers, which had been hovering between 75% and 85% in recent months, leading to the creation of new black spots across the city.

According to BSWML sources that in the absence of a mechanism to enforce punctual mustering, many waste collection vehicles were not punctual and were beginning their work at irregular hours.

To address this, the new Chief Executive Officer, Karee Gowda, advanced the mustering time from 6.30 a.m. to 5.30 a.m. and directed officials to share their live location in a common WhatsApp group, as a temporary measure to ensure field presence before the launch of a unified platform.

The Track Duty system has now been developed to streamline this monitoring process. Over the past 15 days, the BSWML officials have been regularly attending the mustering process under strict instructions from the CEO, said the BSWML.

On Friday, Mr. Gowda announced that due to daily visits by officials to mustering centres, the attendance of auto tippers has now risen to 95%.

“There are approximately 200 mustering centres across the city, and senior officials are personally visiting these centres every morning to inspect attendance. Auto tipper drivers are also being instructed to ensure door-to-door collection and the segregation of wet and dry waste,” the BSWML said in a statement.
