Bullet found in woman's bag at Coimbatore airport

Coimbatore: A bullet was seized from a woman passenger’s carry bag during a security check at the Coimbatore airport on Saturday.Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel conducting screening at the airport found a 9mm bullet in the bag of Sarala Ramakrishnan who was bound for Bengaluru.

She was handed over to the Peelamedu police for questioning.Investigations revealed that she is the wife of a trustee of a well-known trust in Coimbatore.Police said the bullet appeared to be an old one and not compatible with modern firearms. The woman had reportedly used the bag for a long time and was unaware of the bullet’s presence. After the inquiry, the police let her go. No case was registered.
