Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund cruised to a 3-0 win over Union Berlin on Sunday in the encounter between the sides at the Signal Iduna Park as Serhou Guirassy and Felix Nmecha got their names on the scoresheet.

Guirassy netted a goal each in the first and second halves of the game, while Nmecha added his side’s third nine minutes from time to seal a comfortable win for Niko Kovac’s men.

“We had to react because we played a bad game at St Pauli. Of course, it’s much easier to play in front of our fans," Guirassy said.

“Today we played a good game. Now we have to follow that path."

Guirassy missed a prime opportunity to put Dortmund ahead after 21 minutes, capitalizing on a poor back pass but shooting directly at the goalkeeper. The Guinean did give Dortmund the lead when he tapped in a Yan Couto cross with 44 minutes on the clock.

Guirassy then doubled Dortmund’s advantage in the 58th minute, chipping the goalkeeper to complete a clever team move after being set up by Maximilian Beier.

Manchester City junior Nmecha sealed the win in the 83rd minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Dortmund have scored 21 goals in their last six home matches against Union, conceding only five and winning each game. Chelsea loanee Aaron Anselmino, who joined Dortmund on Thursday, impressed in central defence on his debut.

Elsewhere, Mainz secured a last-minute penalty to draw 1-1 at Wolfsburg. Germany midfielder Nadiem Amiri equalized from the spot in the 90th minute, cancelling out Aaron Zehnter’s ninth-minute goal. Wolfsburg were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time when Mattias Svanberg received two yellow cards within 60 seconds.
