A 62-year-old man in Bhopal died by suicide, leaving behind a five-page note in which he accused his daughter-in-law of prolonged mental harassment. The deceased, identified as Ramesh Chandra Gupta, was found dead at his residence in the city on Thursday, police said.
SERVED BURNT ROTIS, WATERY CURRY
According to the suicide note recovered from the spot, Gupta wrote that his daughter-in-law had been mistreating him for years. He alleged that she deliberately gave him burnt rotis and diluted curry and subjected him to constant humiliation. “I cannot bear this any longer. I cannot live with this insult,” he reportedly wrote.
FAMILY DISPUTE AND POLICE INVESTIGATION
Police said Gupta’s son, Pushpendra, is currently involved in a marital dispute and has filed for divorce. His wife, meanwhile, has lodged cases related to dowry and maintenance. “The family had been under stress due to the ongoing disputes,” said ACP Manish Bhardwaj.
The officer added that the suicide note has been seized for examination and further legal action will follow. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
