At least eight pilgrims died after a bus carrying them fell into a ravine after losing control. The incident took place in Maharashtra’s Chandshali Ghat.

The deceased were returning from a visit to the Astamba Devi temple when the driver lost control and the bus plunged into the deep ravine.

The crash was so severe that several passengers were thrown out of the vehicle, which was left completely wrecked.

Soon after the incident, local police and rescue teams reached the spot. The injured were rushed to the Taloda Sub-District Hospital, while those in critical condition were shifted to the district hospital for specialised care.

The bodies of the victims were sent for post-mortem examinations before being handed over to their families.

The Astamba Devi Temple, where the passengers were reportedly headed, is a well-known pilgrimage site—particularly revered by the tribal community. Every year, it attracts thousands of devotees from Maharashtra and Gujarat, especially during the festive season.
