NEW DELHI: A ticketing dispute on a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus reportedly turned physical on Thursday when a conductor allegedly slapped a passenger. The incident occurred on a BMTC bus travelling from Devanahalli to Majestic. According to social media posts and accompanying video footage, the passenger had boarded the bus and waited to buy a ticket, but the conductor did not approach him during the journey.
When a ticket inspection squad arrived, the passenger was fined for not having a valid ticket, which reportedly led to an argument. “My friend was travelling from Devanahalli to Majestic via BMTC bus KA‑57 F‑4029.
The conductor didn’t come to take the ticket. By the time the squad arrived, he was fined. Later the conductor came all of a sudden and assaulted him,” a post on X (formerly Twitter) stated. The passenger also shared a first-hand post on social media:“My horrific experience on BMTC bus – please help me get justice. Today on BMTC bus KA 57 F-4029, I paid a Rs 420 penalty, yet the conductor slapped me hard across the face & abused me. I have video proof. No passenger deserves this. Please help me get justice. #BMTC #Justice”
