The Cubbon Park police have registered a case against a BMTC bus driver on Sunday who allegedly tried to run over a woman in full public view over a road rage incident on Kasturba Road, Bengaluru, close to the police station last week.

The incident occurred on May 23, when the woman driving a car allegedly crashed into the BMTC bus heading from J.J. Nagar to Nagawara due to rash and negligent driving from the bus driver. The woman then went ahead and stopped her car at the next signal to question the driver’s unruly behaviour, where the duo had an argument.

At this point, the driver reportedly tried to run over the woman. Fortunately, she was able to escape in nick of time. The entire incident was captured on the dash cam of the bus. The woman later complained to the Cubbon Park police, based on which the latter have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver. The accused driver, identified as Prashanth, has been suspended.

Reacting to the incident, Transport Minister R. Ramalinga Reddy said that strict action will be taken against the driver for his actions.

In a statement, the BMTC said that they are committed to ensure the safety of passengers and motorists, and any untoward behaviour from the staff will not be tolerated.
