Panaji: Goa police on Tuesday wrote to the transport department to cancel taxi permits after two groups allegedly clashed outside the city’s police station. Both groups, involved in the taxi business, went to the station to file complaints against each other over some issues regarding customers.SP North Rahul Gupta said that Panaji police seized the scooter and taxis in connection with the case. “A letter has been moved to the RTO requesting therein to cancel the registration and permit of the taxis. All the accused are presently in judicial custody,” Gupta said.In his complaint on behalf of the state, head constable Satish Maje said that Devu Kawas, 52, Jyoti Kawas, 48, Roshni Devu Kawas, 30, and Sohil Devu Kawas, 48, all residents of Ramnagar, Alto-Betim, belonged to one group.

Imran Gauas Kaburgi, 23, Yakub Wallikar, 38, both residents of Indiranagar, Chimbel, and Mubarak Bhandaru, 35, a resident of Bambolim, were in the other group.Panaji police on Sunday had arrested seven people after the clash. PI Vijaikumar Chodankar had said that the groups had a verbal spat at midnight, and later came to the police station. Once at the entrance, they began abusing and assaulting each other with blows and kicks, despite intervention of police staff, thereby disturbing the peace.
