Caitlin Clark withdraws from WNBA All-Star weekend due to groin injury, will still attend events

To recover from a recent groin injury, Caitlin Clark declared Thursday afternoon that she will not be playing in the All-Star Game or the three-point competition. Both the 3-point competition and the actual All-Star Game were scheduled to feature the WNBA legend, who is a captain.

She also helped assemble one of the All-Star teams. However, she disclosed on Thursday that she will be sidelined and not competing in either event.

The Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was set to appear at Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game, but the event will have to continue without her. In a statement released by the team on their official Instagram page, Caitlin Clark stated:“I'm so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend. I want to thank the Indianapolis Host Committee and all of the people that have put endless work in over the past year to put this event together. I know this will be the best All-Star yet…”

Then, expressing her regret, she further added: "I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game.

I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action, and I'm looking forward to helping (New York Liberty coach) Sandy (Brondello) coach our team to a win."During Tuesday's 85–77 victory over the Connecticut Sun, she sustained a groin injury. This season, it was the third time she had to miss due to an injury. She was not present during Thursday's crushing defeat of Indiana by Liberty as well.The WNBA's ratings have suffered greatly as a result of the Iowa product's absence, and this weekend's game would be no exception. The Indiana Fever's home arena will host the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 19.

She then walked carefully back up the court while gripping the inside of her right leg. Then, in fury, she slammed her head into the basket's cushioned back stanchion.On the other hand, the Indiana Fever are 5-5 without Caitlin Clark this season, despite having won three straight games to move up to 12-10.
