Bayern Munich star striker Harry Kane acknowledged the favourites tag ahead of the revamped edition of the FIFA Club World Cup slated to begin on the 15th of June in the United States of America.
German champions Bayern are grouped alongside New Zealand outfit Auckland City FC, Portuguese giants Benfica and Argentine heavyweights Boca Juniors in Group C.
“We’re certainly one of the favourites," the Englishman began.
“I think this season has shown what kind of a team we are," he added.
Kane, who broke his trophy duck with the Bundesliga title in the recently concluded season of the German top-flight, looks to further add to his collection with a win in North America.
“On a good day, we can beat any opponent in the world. We are taking the tournament seriously and preparing well", the 31-year-old said.
“It’s a new format with the best teams in the world competing. I’m happy to be part of it because it’s an exciting opportunity," the star forward elucidated.
Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller will play his final tournament for the Bavarian giants in the USA as the World Cup winner is set to depart his boyhood club with his contract coming to an end. Muller is pipped for a move to the MLS and the FIFA CWC in North America could help the German forward acclimatize himself to the Americas.
Muller, who stands tied with Toni Kroos with 35 titles as the most decorated players in the history of Germany looks to one-up his former teammate at club and country.
“Of course we want to win this thing," the boisterous Muller said.
“Ready to rumble. Full throttle for the title. Let’s go, FC Bayern," the 35-year-old charged his team up ahead of the revamped 32-team group and knockout event.
