Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka went on beating around the bush in his press conference and did not specify why other contracts were not cancelled when the Naini MDO contract was cancelled, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader T. Harish Rao asked on Saturday.

In a statement, the BRS leader claimed that cancellation of the Naini MDO contract was ample proof of irregularities in Singareni tenders and the Deputy Chief Minister only tried to divert the issue by reading out the tender conditions of various companies. When the other tenders were called in the same method, why were they not cancelled? he sought to know from Mr. Vikramarka.

On the Deputy CM’s poser as to why the BRS leaders did not write to him demanding an inquiry, Mr. Harish Rao said that he had written to the Union Coal Minister with a view that only a Central agency like the CBI or a sitting judge could investigate into charges involving a Chief Minister or his/her kin since the Singareni OB tenders’ scam involved the Chief Minister’s relative.

He stated that he would write to Mr. Vikramarka if the latter assures a fair probe into the role of the Chief Minister in his relative getting the contracts. He sought to know whether the Deputy CM was justifying the scam by blaming the previous BRS regime for the site visit certification condition.

The BRS leader also questioned Mr. Vikramarka’s silence on the solar power ‘scam’ in Singareni and why he did not utter a word on in the press conference.

Meanwhile, BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan stated that the Deputy CM’s words had clearly indicated a scam in the Singareni tenders and in case there was no irregularity, why was the government hesitating to order an inquiry into it by cancelling the tenders.
