The University administration remains committed to strengthening its governance system through merit, talent, and transparency, Osmania University said in a release on Tuesday (October 21, 2025), rejecting misinformation reported regarding the recently concluded Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) promotions.

As per the process completed on September 29, eight senior professors, 33 professors, and 54 associate professors were elevated across 41 departments.

However, Osmania University Teachers Association (OUTA) alleged that there have been irregularities in the promotion process. Refuting the allegations, the OU administration said that OUTA is no longer a valid panel as its executive committee term expired in September 2024.

The university said that the entire process was transparent, video-graphed, and that witness versions included were from Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Vice-Chancellor, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences S. Jithendra Kumar Naik, and Dean, Development and UGC Affairs B. Lavanya.

Condemning the controversies fuelled by a few disgruntled faculty members, the university said that certain faculty members bypassed the authority, misused the office, and made defamatory statements against the university.

“The university will not tolerate any actions detrimental to OU’s reputation. The university reiterates that it gives no official recognition, validity, or authenticity to representations received in the name of the expired OUTA. The administration will pursue disciplinary and legal action according to university regulations and relevant laws against any individual misusing the OUTA identity or spreading misinformation,” Registrar G. Naresh Reddy said.
