A special squad of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) seized several documents as part of the continuing investigation into a case related to the alleged accumulation of disproportionate assets by M.S. Dileep, superintending engineer in the Kozhikode Corporation, who retired from service on Saturday (May 31, 2025).

VACB sources said liquid cash of ₹6 lakh and over 100 documents confirming his other investments in the form of properties were recovered during the 14-hour-long inspection carried out on Friday. This was apart from the seizure of four mobile phones and a tablet. Search was carried out simultaneously at the properties he owned in Kozhikode and Wayanad, they added.

The flash inspections were carried out following a suo motu case registered by the VACB after verifying some confidential complaints. There were allegations against Mr. Dileep of ignoring various violations by traders and builders. Preliminary investigation conducted by the VACB squad gathered vital evidence against him.

VACB sources said more details, including bank statements related to various deposits and fund transfers would be gathered as part of the continuing investigation. He would also be interrogated in detail based on the already recovered documents, they added.

According to VACB sources, the first information report was registered following preliminary investigation findings that he was suspected of accumulating disproportionate assets worth ₹56 lakh. The irregularities were noticed during his service from 2013 to 2023, they revealed.
