Catering establishments across Tamil Nadu should intimate if they have exhibited the name of the establishment in Tamil as per the rules, during their registration as well as during the renewal. The State government’s Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department has amended the rules in this regard recently.
Though they were required to exhibit the name board in Tamil too, as per Rule 42-B of the Tamil Nadu Catering Establishment Rules, 1959, many of these establishments did not follow the rule. Recently, the Form I was amended to make these units to intimate if they have exhibited their name in Tamil and if so, submit the proof.
As per Rule 42-B, the name board of every establishment shall be in Tamil and wherever other languages are also used, the version in English shall be in the second place followed by the versions in other languages, if any. “The Tamil version shall be written predominantly in the name board by providing more space than for other languages.”
Another amendment made to the rules also mandates these units to intimate whether they have made the contribution to Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund for the previous year and submit proof in this regard.
