BHOPAL: Three pedestrians were injured near Panchanan Bhavan in TT Nagar, Bhopal, when a high-speed car traveling on the wrong side of the road ran them over and dragged them for several metres before they were detached from the vehicle.All three youths sustained injuries, with one reported to be in critical condition. The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.Eyewitnesses claim there were three people inside the car at the time, but no one was able to note down the vehicle’s registration number. Following a complaint, TT Nagar police have registered a case against the unidentified driver.According to police, the incident occurred around 3:30am on the night of May 30. Surendra Malviya, an auto-rickshaw driver, along with his two friends Amit Chauhan and Akhil, stopped for tea at a kiosk near Panchanan Bhavan, just ahead of Roshanpura Square. Suddenly, a car parked on the road leading to Mata Mandir took a sharp turn at high speed and ploughed into the trio.Witnesses said that seeing the car's rampage, bystanders quickly stepped aside to save themselves. However, the driver dragged the three friends along for several metres, causing severe injuries.
Some locals attempted to chase the vehicle. During the chase, one of the car’s occupants stepped out, and the crowd managed to seize his mobile phone before the car occupants fled the scene.This is the third major hit-and-run case in the TT Nagar area within a month. In a previous incident, a hospital manager was deliberately run over, but police have yet to arrest the accused.In the latest case, TT Nagar police said they recovered a mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects. Efforts are underway to trace him using the SIM card information. Police investigations are ongoing.
