The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday (July 6, 2026) carried out searches at 26 locations across 11 States and Union Territories in connection with four separate cases related to alleged misappropriation of funds belonging to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
The searches have been conducted in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland.

Cases have been registered against 10 officers of the Lieutenant Colonel, Major, and Engineer ranks, besides private persons, according to the agency.
“These cases relate to irregularities in deployment of casual labourers and payments released in the name of fake casual labourers in the Project Vijayak and Yojak in the Union Territory of Ladakh,” the agency said. The four First Information Reports were registered based on criminal complaints lodged by the Union Ministry of Defence, following an internal enquiry conducted by the Technical Board of Officers of the BRO.
The offences involve alleged misappropriation of government funds, cheating, forgery, criminal breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy under the erstwhile Indian Penal Code, and criminal misconduct and bribery under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Several incriminating documents and digital evidence have been seized during the searches, the agency said.
