Central fund of ₹3 lakh each for Pulikkali troupes

The Union government has for the first time extended financial support to Pulikkali. Under the Tourism Ministry’s Domestic Promotion & Publicity including Hospitality (DPPH) scheme, each troupe has been sanctioned ₹3 lakh, Union Minister Suresh Gopi announced through his Facebook page.

Calling it his Onam gift to the celebrated Pulikkali troupes of Thrissur, the Minister said the aid marks a milestone for the iconic street pageant.

In addition, the Thanjavur South Zone Cultural Centre will contribute ₹1 lakh each to the troupes, Mr. Gopi added in his note.
