Centre convenes meet on Krishna waters on June 18

Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, who also holds the Water Resources portfolio, has stated that the Union Jal Shakti Minister has convened a meeting of Water Resources Ministers of States concerned to discuss about Upper Krishna Project on June 18.

Mr. Shivakumar told media persons in Delhi on Sunday that he was hopeful of such a meeting arriving at a decision on the project.

It may be noted that the Karnataka government had been urging the Centre to issue a gazette notification for the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-2 verdict. Also, State government had expressed concern over Maharashtra objecting to increasing the height of the Almatti dam.
