Andhra Pradesh BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav claimed that the Central government is supporting the State government to complete the construction of the Polavaram irrigation project by 2027 by extending timely financial assistance.
Addressing a gathering of party workers during the Saaradhyam programme on Monday, Mr. Madhav announced that the Centre had recently released ₹15,000 crore towards the Resettlement and Rehabilitation of the Polavaram irrigation project.
He said: “The YSRCP has slowed down the construction activity of the Polavaram irrigation project due to the reverse tendering policy. The progress of the project execution has been delayed on all fronts.”
Mr. Madhav further added that Rayalaseema, Krishna basin and Northern Andhra Pradesh regions would be able to receive water from river Godavari once the Polavaram project is commissioned. He claimed that presently works of the Polavaram project Left Main Canal were in full swing.
On the U.S. tariffs on imports from India, Mr. Madhav said that the maritime trade has suffered greatly, but the Centre was preparing to face the challenges.
On the strengthening of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Madhav asked party workers to prepare for the upcoming local body elections by exploring the opportunities. He said: “Be prepared to contest in the local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. Grassroot-level party workers will be identified to strengthen the party at village-level.”
