All restrictions on the commercial LPG cylinder supplies have been withdrawn, restoring them to pre-West Asia crisis levels with immediate effect.

The supply of commercial LPG cylinders had been restricted following supply disruptions caused by the West Asia crisis.
All restrictions on commercial LPG cylinders have been withdrawn with immediate effect after an improvement in the West Asia war crisis, Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota said on Thursday. He added the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas reviewed the situation and informed states of its decision to relax the curbs on the sale of commercial LPG cylinders.
In a post on X, the officer said the Centre had decided to restore commercial LPG supplies to pre-crisis levels. He also shared a letter from Petroleum Secretary Neeraj Mittal, who wrote to all states and Union Territories earlier in the day to communicate the decision.
Kota said the ministry had ordered the withdrawal of sectoral restrictions on non-domestic, or commercial, packed LPG and the resumption of supplies at pre-crisis levels. He added that bulk LPG supplies may be restored up to 50 per cent of pre-crisis consumption levels.
Quoting the Centre's decision, Kota said, "The Government of India has reviewed the temporary LPG supply restrictions imposed during the recent West Asia crisis and has decided to restore commercial LPG supplies to pre-crisis levels." He also said consumers with access to piped natural gas, or PNG, should continue with it or shift to it as a long-term measure.
According to the Petroleum Secretary, data on all commercial and industrial consumers must continue to be captured by the oil marketing companies in their databases. "A unified database may be maintained by sector across the 3 OMCs. Further, as already instructed, such commercial/bulk customers who have shifted to PNG shall remain on PNG," he wrote to the states and Union Territories.
Mittal added that if other LPG customers can access PNG and can shift to it, or are in the process of shifting to the local PNG network, they should be permanently transitioned to PNG. He said oil marketing companies should ensure that this shift to PNG continues in coordination with city gas distribution entities.
The Centre has thus lifted restrictions on commercial LPG cylinders and moved to restore supplies to earlier levels, while keeping in place its push for eligible commercial and bulk consumers to stay on or shift permanently to PNG.
