CCS University to kick off 8-day 'Dikshotsav'

BAREILLY: Chaudhary Charan Singh University is set to hold an eight-day cultural and academic festival, 'Dikshotsav', from June 2 to 10 in the run-up to its 38th convocation ceremony.

The event, organised by the university administration, aims to provide students a platform to showcase their creative, intellectual and cultural talents through a series of competitions and programmes.Vice-Chancellor Professor Sangeeta Shukla said the convocation is not merely an occasion for conferring degrees but a celebration of student achievement. "Dikshotsav will give students an opportunity to display their talent, develop leadership abilities and connect with social and cultural values," she said, urging all university departments and affiliated colleges to ensure maximum student participation.Professor Neelu Jain Gupta, president of the Literary and Cultural Council, said competitions spanning literature, culture, art, music and general knowledge will be held across the eight days. All winners will be felicitated at a special prize distribution ceremony on June 10 at Atal Sabhagar.The day-wise schedule opens on June 2 with an essay writing competition on the theme 'Drug-Free India: Responsibility of Youth' at the History Department, followed by a speech competition on June 3 at the Institute of Legal Studies.

A patriotic songs and poetry contest is slated for June 4 at Atal Sabhagar, while June 5 features a general knowledge quiz on 'Culture of Uttar Pradesh' and an installation art competition themed 'Nari Shakti Vandan'.

A folk dance competition is scheduled for June 8, followed by poster, slogan and rangoli contests on June 9.A notable addition this year is the inclusion of installation art and tableau displays, which Professor Alka Tiwari described as the centrepiece of Dikshotsav 2026.

Participants will present themes of Uttar Pradesh's culture and women's empowerment through artistic installations.The festival will also host a 'Maa-Beti Swasthya Sammelan', a mother-daughter health conference aimed at raising awareness on nutrition, hygiene and healthy lifestyle among female students, with medical experts offering guidance and health screenings on campus.
