Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has avoided jail despite being caught on camera driving dangerously in his Lamborghini.

The £70 million centre-back, already serving a two-year driving ban until May 2027 for eight prior speeding offences, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving along the A3 Esher Bypass in Hook, Surrey, on April 20.

This was his ninth driving offence at just 25.

Caught on Camera

According to The Sun, dashcam footage showed Fofana speeding and weaving through traffic in his white Lamborghini Urus. The footage was presented in court, leading to his latest conviction.

Despite his long record, the Frenchman was spared jail time, instead being ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid community service. He also received an additional 18-month driving ban, on top of his current suspension.

Fofana was further ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £114 victim surcharge — a light penalty considering his previous fines totalling over £5,000 for earlier speeding offences.

A Pattern of Recklessness

This latest incident came just months after the defender was clocked speeding in his white Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a blue Audi 4.0L, and the same Lamborghini. Many of those offences occurred near Chelsea’s Cobham training ground, a 50mph zone.

In court, District Judge Julie Cooper criticized Fofana for being a poor role model, saying the player was “setting the wrong example for young people who look up to professional footballers."

It’s not the first time Fofana’s driving has made headlines.

He was banned for six months in January 2023 and previously involved in a 2022 car crash with actor Dean Gaffney, which left the EastEnders star with a broken collarbone.

On the pitch, the injury-plagued defender has managed just five appearances for Chelsea this season, including three in the Premier League.
