Leader Keymer and chasing Erigaisi played out a draw in a top-of-the-table clash as the German held on to his advantage on Tuesday.

The top of the table clash between leader Vincent Keymer and chasing Arjun Erigaisi, which headlined the sixth day of the Chennai Grandmasters 2025 on Tuesday, finished in a draw as the duo shared the spoils on the back of an enticing game that challenged both players.
As a result of the draw, Keymer, still unbeaten, holds on to his lead at the top, with a whole point over Indian top-seed Erigaisi with just three games to go. The German leads the pack with four and a half points to his name, while Erigaisi stands at three and a half points at the end of six games.
American Liang Awonder registered a victory over Pranav V, while another overseas player, Jorden Van Foreest got the better of Indian Nihal Sarin. Vidit Gujrathi was held to a draw by Dutchman Anish Giri, who played out his sixth tie in as many games. American Ray Robson and Karthikeyan Murali shook each other’s hands in the longest game of the day, which went on for over five hours.
Awonder’s win put his level on points with Erigaisi in the second spot, behind sole leader Keymer, followed by Giri, Gujrathi and Van Foreest took their tally to three points.
Pranesh M brought Abhimanyu Puranik’s winning run in the challengers to a grinding halt with a resounding win over his compatriot. While Adhiban B posted a triumph over Diptayan Ghosh.
Aryan Chopra was also handed a defeat on the day as Leon Luke Mendoca picked up a deserved win as he outclassed Chopra. Mendoca and Pranesh zoomed ahead of Puranik in the Challengers table with 4.5 points apiece.
Harika Dronavalli, who has had to endure a testing series, picked up her first win of the event against fellow struggler Vaishali R, who is still in quest of a first win in her hometown event. Iniyan Pa and Harshavardhan GB played out the only draw of the day in the Challengers segment.
