Chhattisgarh High Court gets bomb threat from mail, nothing found in search

RAIPUR: A bomb threat has created ripples in Chhattisgarh High Court when an anonymous email was sent to its official website by a group claiming to be the "Madras Tigers for Ajmal Kasab" and it warned of a bomb planted within the court premises. The e-mail sent on Monday evening, prompted an immediate security response, with the entire court complex evacuated and thoroughly searched by police and bomb disposal units. Police have lodged an FIR in the matter and have conducted an exhaustive

search.Bilaspur police said that the threat turned out to be hoax as nothing suspicious was found during the search. Bilaspur SP Rajnesh Singh said that the police got information about the threat mail on Monday evening. The email threatened that an IED device was planted at HC which will blow off at 6.45 pm on Monday. The HC was immediately evacuated and a thorough inspection was done with the help of bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs.

It went on till 10 pm and police found no explosives from the premises. SP added that the BDS was stationed in HC on Tuesday, and efforts were on to track the person behind sending hoax mail. Sources said that the email referred to sensitive issues and claimed that an "ammonium-sulfur-based IED" was planted in the court premises.The email made specific references to political and communal events, including the execution of terrorist Ajmal Kasab and the arrest of certain individuals, framing the bomb threat as part of a larger ideological struggle.

This is not the first such threat in the region. In April, the Collector's office in Kabirdham district also received a bomb threat involving RDX, and eight months earlier, a similar bomb threat was issued against a flight traveling from Bilaspur to Delhi.
