Chhattisgarh staff seek DA budget; CKAF demands Bihar model, govt urged to act in 2026-27

RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh Karamchari Adhikari Federation (CKAF) has urged the State government to create a separate budget provision for dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for State employees, pensioners and All-India Service officers, similar to the system followed by the Bihar government.Federation state convenor Kamal Verma wrote to the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister, stating that the Bihar government promptly provides DA to its employees and pensioners at the same rate approved by the Central government. This is made possible through a dedicated budget allocation under the Establishment and Committed Expenditure Head in Bihar’s annual budget, Verma said.In this context, the Bihar government recently instructed all departments to prepare and submit their budget proposals for the financial year 2026–27 to the finance department.

The CKAF said that if a similar arrangement is adopted in Chhattisgarh, employees, pensioners and All-India Service officers would receive DA benefits on time, avoiding unnecessary delays in approval. This would also prevent employees from having to protest or repeatedly demand their rightful entitlements. The Federation has requested the State government to make a positive decision in the interest of employees and pensioners by including a separate budget provision for DA in the upcoming main budget for 2026–27, following Bihar’s model.
