The Chicago White Sox have signed Tyler Alexander to a 1 year $760,000 contract. This helps with the recent injuries to the pitching staff. Alexander is a 30-year-old lefty who has 7 years of Major League experience.
The White Sox announced this signing on June 8, 2025, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the team this year.
White Sox secure Tyler Alexander for one-year deal
The team signed Tyler Alexander, a left-handed pitcher with a lot of experience, in an effort to improve their pitching rotation. The team shared the news on June 8, 2025, as they worked to fix their roster after some players got hurt. To add Alexander, the White Sox put pitcher Jared Shuster on the 15-day injured list because of a blister on his hand and moved pitcher Fraser Ellard to the 60-day injured list with a back injury.
Alexander’s $760,000 deal shows the team believes he can help a lot. In 2025, while playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, he pitched 36.1 innings and struck out 30 batters but had a 6.19 ERA. Alexander is good at pitching either from the start or as a reliever, which is perfect for the White Sox since they focus on building up their pitching staff. Also Read: Justin Ishbia moves closer to owning White Sox after new deal with Jerry Reinsdorf
Alexander's experience adds depth to White Sox pitching
Since Tyler Alexander has spent a long time playing baseball, he’s suitable for the White Sox pitching staff.
He worked with the Detroit Tigers from 2019 through 2023 and appeared in 43 games as a starter and in 77 games from the bullpen. His team relied a lot in 2021 on his 3.81 ERA from the 106.1 innings he pitched that year.He spent the 2024 season pitching 107.2 innings for the Tampa Bay Rays, giving up an ERA of 5.10. Alexander redeploys a variety of pitches such as fastballs, cutters, sinkers, sliders and changeups against hitters. Even though his 2025 season with the Brewers was tough and they released him on June 1, his past shows he can do better. The White Sox hope Alexander’s experience and different pitching styles will help them win more games and stay strong in the American League Central Division, with other pitchers currently injured.
