Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has given the green signal for supplying 44,346 energy-efficient induction stoves to the Anganwadi Centres through the Women Development & Child Welfare (WD&CW) Department with the support of the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

Under Phase-I, the EESL has already distributed 11,400 induction stoves to the Anganwadi Centres, according to a press release from EESL Media Adviser (South India) A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy.

Switching to 1,200-W induction stoves is projected to significantly reduce recurring LPG costs, with annual savings in Andhra Pradesh estimated to be ₹24 crore, he says. Besides, the programme is expected to prevent the release of nearly 28,327 tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere.

The induction cooktops are around 30% more energy-efficient than conventional LPG stoves. The initiative is in alignment with the Central Government’s ‘Go Electric’ campaign and the National Efficient Cooking Programme, Mr. Chandra Sekhar Reddy adds.
