Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will face Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in a history-making game tonight, Friday, September 6. The AFC West rivals are playing at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, and for the first time ever, an NFL game will be shown live on YouTube.

The stream will be free for most fans around the world, except for some restricted countries. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET, and this is the first of seven international NFL games in the 2025 season.

Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert bring Chiefs vs Chargers to YouTube

The Chiefs vs Chargers matchup is not only a division clash but also a major step in how fans watch football. YouTube is streaming the game directly without any paywall, unlike other NFL deals with Amazon Prime Video or Netflix.

That means viewers only need access to YouTube, not a subscription service.

NBC will produce the game broadcast. Rich Eisen and Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner will call the action from São Paulo. A YouTube pregame show will also be live, hosted by NFL reporter Kay Adams and YouTube creator Peter Overzet. Alternative live streams are planned, including one by IShowSpeed, who has more than 43 million subscribers.

YouTube promoted the event this week with a video featuring NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and popular creator MrBeast. The NFL first announced its partnership with YouTube in May, calling it a “new way to reach millions of fans across the world.”

Kay Adams and YouTube stars add new look to NFL broadcast

Along with the main broadcast, YouTube is planning to give fans multiple ways to watch. Kay Adams said in a preview, “This is going to be fun and different. Fans will feel like the game is right there with them.”The NFL is testing whether YouTube can handle such a massive audience.

Smaller sports like the Savannah Bananas baseball team have used YouTube to stream games, but the NFL brings far higher demand. Last season, regular season games averaged more than 17 million viewers. Also Read: Travis Kelce’s Family Reveals Shocking Truth About Drug Shame As Taylor Swift Fiancé Begins Last NFL Season With ChiefsThis move adds to the league’s $14 billion deal with YouTube for Sunday Ticket, which gives fans out-of-market games in the U.S. However, tonight’s Chiefs vs Chargers stream is separate and available worldwide for free. The game in Brazil follows last season’s Peacock exclusive in São Paulo, when the Green Bay Packers played the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, with Patrick Mahomes leading the Chiefs and Justin Herbert guiding the Chargers, the spotlight is on YouTube to prove it can deliver football to millions at once.
