Child dies after falling into pit in Rajamahendravaram

A four-and-a-half-year-old boy died after he reportedly fell into a pit dug up by the Rural Water Supply (RWS) authorities for repairing a valve of the drinking water pipeline at Srirampuram village of Rajamahendravaram rural. The incident occurred on Friday (July 11, 2025). 

The RWS authorities have dug up a pit for the repair of the valve. However, the repair work has been postponed after the pit was filled up due to rain.

East Godavari District Collector P. Prasanthi, who inspected the site, has stated; “Kadamanchi Srinu had fallen into the pit while he was playing and died on the spot”.  According to Ms. Prasanthi, the State government had announced ₹5 lakh ex-gratia to the family of the deceased.
