State Child Rights Commission member Battula Padmavati on Saturday enquired about the alleged gang-rape case of a minor girl, leading to her advanced pregnancy, from a remote village at Ramagiri mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district.
Ms. Padmavati spoke to the District Child Welfare Committee officials and Project Director of the Women and Child Welfare Department about the health status of the minor girl. She asked the officials to submit a detailed report on the incident within three days.
She asked the officials to extend all possible assistance to the family, including victim compensation, sponsorship support, and protective measures.
The district officials informed the panel member that the victim was currently receiving treatment at a government hospital under police protection and was provided shelter at a one-stop centre in the district.
