Chirag rules out marriage, pledges commitment to Bihar

Chirag Paswan, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and a prominent bachelor in Bihar politics, has ruled out marriage, stating his commitment to the state's development. Inspired by PM Modi, he prioritises 'Bihar First', believing marriage is a big responsibility he cannot undertake currently.

Patna: Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan, often described as the most eligible bachelor in Bihar’s political circles, has ruled out marriage, pledging instead his commitment to his larger family and the state.Chirag, the only son of former Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, will turn 43 on Oct 31. Along with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he remains one of the most prominent bachelors in Indian politics.“Bihar is my first commitment,” Chirag told a television news channel. Elaborating further, he said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is my ideal and he, too, left his family for public life. Parivar ke ek sadasya ko sarvochh balidan karna padta hai (one member has to make the supreme sacrifice for the family).”Dismissing the possibility of marriage, Chirag said his priority was Bihar’s development. “Marriage is a big responsibility and I don’t have time for such commitments. I have a bigger goal. I believe in Bihar First, Bihari First. In such a situation, there is no time for personal commitment. Marriage is a huge responsibility and you cannot take it lightly,” the Hajipur MP said.During the recent Voter Adhikar Yatra, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, in the presence of Rahul Gandhi, had advised Chirag to get married. Rahul, seated next to Tejashwi, quipped that the advice applied to him as well.Chirag’s brother-in-law and Jamui MP Arun Bharti also confirmed that former was not considering marriage. “However, after the assembly elections, the family will ask him to tie the nuptial knot,” he said.
