Joint Collector A. Rajendran on Saturday said that domestic LPG cylinder supply through gas agencies in the district was continuing normally and urged the public not to panic over rumours of a shortage.
After inspecting a couple of gas agencies and monitoring the supply chain, the Joint Collector said residents could contact the control room set up at the District Collectorate for information on gas supply. The control room can be reached at 08572-242734 on all working days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..
Mr. Rajendran said adequate LPG stocks had been ensured to meet consumer demand across the district. Tahsildars have also been assigned to monitor gas supply at each agency to prevent irregularities.
He advised the consumers not to rush for repeated refill bookings and not to believe unverified messages. They should pay only the amount mentioned on the gas bill to the delivery personnel and avoid paying extra charges.
The official warned of strict action against those hoarding cylinders, creating artificial shortages, or using domestic cylinders for commercial purposes.
